History

Located in the center of historic downtown Paris, KY, Campbell's In Paris has been a long standing independently-owned eatery.  In 1966 Harry and Irene Campbell purchased and started our restaurant and it continues to be family owned and operated.  Their daughter, Marilyn, is the head chef and her daughter Myra, who's day job consists of international travel, still occassionally drops in for waitressing and keeping her mother on her "culinary toes."

We are located in the old Baldwin Hotel which was erected in 1887.  The basement used to be home to a barber shop, our dining area was the pool room and our club dining room was a small cafe/coffee shop/ice cream parlor (you can still see where the stools were bolted into the ceramic tile floor).  The hotel was known not only for its rooms but also for its glorious ball room which was located on the 3rd floor.  Many changes have occurred at our building over the years, most notably it has sustained 2 major fires, one of which left the entire front of the building with need for a new facade.  Now our victorian building has a 1930's style depression front but it has not lost its victorian charm on the inside!  Our diner's always comment on our tall ceilings with the original ornate tin still intact and on display.  Our overhead lighting are the same fixtures from the 1930's; Humphrey Bogart would have felt at home here!

Not only are we proud of our building but we are also proud of our culinary accomplishments!  We have been mentioned in Southern Living Online, the Cincinnati Enquirer, the Lexington Hearld-Leader, and Midwest Living.  We have served numerous individuals including Jamie Farr (MASH), Lee Majors (Six Million Dollar Man), Anita Madden (Bluegrass Diva and owner of Hamburg Place Farm), Graham Beck (owner of Gainsway Farm and Graham Beck Vineyards) and even local celebrities like Donna and Tubby Smith, Mr. Wildcat (Bill Keightley), Joe B. Hall, Arnold Kirkpatrick (real estate genius), Don Edwards (author and writer for the Lexington Herald-Leader) and Dr. Walter Kaufman, the former head-veterinarian at Claiborne Farm, a well-known gourmet in his own right.  We have an outstanding reputation in the central Kentucky area and would love to have you for lunch or dinner, or cater your parties!
